TWO TYPES OF DATA

  • Continuous Data
    • Measurement scale can be meaningfully divided into finer and finer increments
    • Measured on a continuum
    • Much more robust for statistical analysis
    • Length, weight, ratios, etc
  • Discrete Data
    • Values can vary only by whole units
    • May or may not be ordered
    • Not very powerful for statistical analysis
    • Classifications, count, rating, etc.
